Budgets reflect priorities, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority will be prioritizing capital investments in the 2018 fiscal year.

"SEPTA proposed an ambitious $727.2 million budget on Monday," reports Claire Sasko.
The proposed fiscal year 2018 budget includes funding for SEPTA's "Rebuilding the System" initiative, a "lofty plan to overhaul the city’s aging transportation infrastructure, vehicles and technology," explains Sasko. The system's 12-year capital investment plan has a price tag of $7.2 billion.
Sasko's reporting breaks down the budget allotments of the proposed fiscal year 2018 budget. One project of note that will require 99.6 million, or 13.7 percent of the budget, is the new SEPTA Key fare payment system, currently being rolled out throughout the system.
