The Purple Line is slated to begin service in 2024.
The Indianapolis Public Transportation Corp. (IndyGo) just broke ground on the second of three planned bus rapid transit (BRT) lines, reports Melina Druga. "The 15.2-mile project will connect Indianapolis to Lawrence. It also will upgrade a large portion of Route 39 along the East 38th Street and Post Road corridors."
The project includes repaving, sewer separation, hundreds of ADA-compliant curb ramps, 10 miles of new sidewalks, and a multi-use path.
"We know this project will bring unprecedented renewal and phenomenal transformation as residents take advantage of the opportunity to move forward faster," said IndyGo president and CEO Inez Evans.
The line is scheduled to become operational in 2024.
