Budget concerns cut some of the planned bike infrastructure included in the Seattle's updated bike plan earlier this year. The city has responded to some of those concerns with its latest version of the draft plan update.
"Seattle has released its latest edition [pdf] of the city’s Bicycle Master Plan," reports Dyer Oxley.
Oxley notes especially the possibility of concern on the part of drivers over changes to streets that will result from the plan. Jim Curtin, interim director of project development for the Seattle Department of Transportation, is quoted throughout the article attempting to mitigate concerns from drivers. Curtin is on the record saying construction on some projects could begin this year.
In a separate article, Erica C. Barnett focuses more on the city's response to demands from bike advocates, who were concerned by cuts made the draft plan in its most recent iteration, released in March of this year. According to Barnett, some of the changes in the plan seem to respond to concerns expressed earlier this year, especially with regard to plans for bike infrastructure in Southeast Seattle.
