Virgin Hyperloop's Hyperloop Certification Center (HCC) will be located on an 800-acre site straddling Tucker and Grant counties in West Virginia.
"Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) has selected West Virginia as the location for its Hyperloop Certification Center (HCC)," reports Chris Teale.
The decision culminates a competitive process to find a location for the HCC, "which will include testing facilities, a training center on operations, maintenance and safety, a manufacturing facility and a certification track," according to Teale.
West Virginia University (WVU), Marshall University, and others are partnering on the facility. The state of West Virginia is expecting a $48 million per year economic benefit from the HCC.
The HCC will be built on an 800-acre site in Tucker and Grant counties in West Virginia. In all, 17 sites competed to become the location of the new facility.
The announcement of the new facility comes just a few weeks after the Florida State Legislature allocated $1 million for the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority to study the feasibility of a Hyperloop connection between Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Bradenton.
