The public will get its first look at the tunnel technology Elon Musk and the Boring Co. have dreamed up in response to hopes for a congestion miracle.

"Two years after Musk complained on Twitter that Los Angeles traffic was driving him “nuts” and that he was going to “just start digging” to escape it, his newest venture, the Boring Co., is slated to unveil its first tunnel Tuesday," reports Laura J. Nelson.
Mystery has surrounded the project since it's inception, leaving local Hawthorne residents mostly out of the loop. "The typically messy elements of construction have been confined to two private properties, and shielded from view behind fences and tents," according to Nelson.
But Musk has been hyping today's opening, again taking to Twitter to tout "more than a tunnel opening." Modified "but fully road legal" autonomous cars will be lowered into the tunnel.
"The tunnel starts in a parking lot near SpaceX, and runs for about mile through a neighborhood between the 105 Freeway and Hawthorne Municipal Airport, ending at a shuttered cabinetry business on Prairie Avenue," adds Nelson.
Maps of the current tunnel, an envisioned system of tunnels built by the Boring Company, and more details on today's events are included.
