Oakland plans to launch its new charging network at eight locations by the end of 2025.
The city of Oakland, California is installing 244 electric vehicle charging ports at city-owned parking facilities, according to a press release from the city. The chargers, which will begin operating by the end of this year, were built using a $5.8 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) and come at no cost to the city.
“This new partnership with Flash will help implement Oakland’s Zero Emission Vehicle Action Plan and 2030 Equitable Climate Action Plan, which together provide a roadmap to a zero emission transportation system in Oakland,” the press release states. Half of the revenue generated by the chargers, which will be distributed at eight sites, will go to the city. User fees are not identified in the release.
