D.C. is eliminating 74 parking spots on 14th Street NW to make space for dedicated bus lanes and a new protected bike lane.
"After announcing a series of changes to 14th Street NW in Columbia Heights in February, the District Department of Transportation will kick off construction on a new set of bus lanes along the bustling corridor this week," reports Nathan Diller.
"The bus lanes will stretch along 14th Street between Euclid and Newton streets NW, with construction starting on or around June 11, DDOT says in a release. The construction is expected to take between 60 and 90 days, and DDOT says it will study the impact of the overall project on traffic over the next year."
More details and the new bus lanes, and why the busy corridor was selected for the new street configuration, are included in the source article.
