After a major zoning reform in Cambridge, Massachusetts brought all of its residential areas under the same zoning code for the first time, the city noticed significant public interest in how the changes were impacting Cambridge. So, last week, Cambridge launched an interactive dashboard that allows the public to track housing developments across the city.

Ryan Kushner writes for Smart Cities Dive:

“Residents have told us they want clear, reliable information about how housing is changing in Cambridge,” City Manager Yi-An Huang said in a press release. “By including projects at every stage of development, including early-stage proposals that are often difficult to track, we are giving residents a more complete picture of housing activity across our community.”

The city’s tracker currently shows 250 housing projects in various stages of development. In addition to the tracker, “the city also announced a temporary multifamily housing community liaison to help inform residents,” Smart Cities Dive reports.
