A new platform called Nesterly provides housing solutions for people on either side of the age demographic spectrum.
Two recent graduates of MIT’s masters program in urban planning, Noelle Marcus and Rachel Goor, created the "Airbnb for affordable housing," according to an article by Katharine Schwab for Co.Design.
The platform, called Nesterly, "[matches] younger people who need affordable housing with older adults who charge affordable prices–including help around the house–for the extra rooms of their homes."
"Nesterly’s genius is that it tackles two problems with one elegant solution," according to Schwab: affordability for younger people and aging in place for older.
In addition to sharing some of the data behind the drives driving the need for Nesterly, Schwab also provides anecdotes from the experiences of the platform's early adopters.
