Companies and workers in the country of Japan are less likely to work from home than in the United States. The government hopes to increase the number of telecommuters during the 2020 Olympics, however.

"On July 24, Japan encouraged companies to experiment with what is still a relatively uncommon workplace policy in the country: Allowing employees to work from home."
Sarah Kessler shares that news and provides some insight into how the experiment was received in the country. "The government campaign, which will be repeated each year on July 24 for the next three years, is an effort to reduce congestion ahead of the 2020 Summer Olympics," adds Kessler.
