The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) revealed a draft system redesign this week.
Courtney Astolfi reports: "Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority on Tuesday made public its proposed bus system redesign, which would boost frequency on several popular routes, and would reduce service on other routes."
The RTA set a number of goals for the system redesign, including providing more frequent, direct all-day service along several major routes; prioritizing service that provides access to work, education and healthcare; and reducing the need to transfer between buses during trips between Cleveland and the suburbs. Astolfi provides specific route changes and frequency improvements intended to achieve those goals. Not yet available to the public, however, are specific information on which routes will be cut to make room available for these improvements. Such cuts are expected, however.
RTA hopes is targeting a June 2021 implementation date for the final version of the system redesign. A spring public education campaign will precede the new system's implementation.
