The city of Atlanta is building new housing, but very little of it is affordable. A new bond is intended to make a dent in that trend.
"The city of Atlanta is set to put a big chunk of money toward affordable housing," reports Stephannie Stokes. More specifically, "the Atlanta City Council voted to approve $40 million for housing programs."
Mayor Kasim Reed is also building support for $25 million in bonds to fund services for the homeless in Atlanta, according to Stokes. The article does not include any details about how much affordable housing the bond will fund, though Councilmember Andre Dickens is paraphrased saying funding will be available to homebuyers and developers.
The city last took out abond to fundaffordable housing in 2007.
