These are uncertain times for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. With the Trump administration poised to cut the department's funding, affordable housing advocates are bracing for an even tougher fight. At this critical juncture, Curbed has prepared a basic primer on HUD for those of us who need a refresher. 

In the piece, Patrick Sisson discusses HUD's questionable new leadership. "The president's choice to run the agency, neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate Ben Carson, has been criticized by housing advocates for being unprepared for the position and under-informed about the role that this massive agency plays in the lives of many Americans."
