The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has shifted its approach to the growing U.S. solar industry, coming out on the side of utilities on the issue of net metering.
"The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the latest conservative group to start spreading anti-solar messages," according to an article by Ben Adler.
In an email sent to supporters on Wednesday, the chamber attacks net metering, a policy in place in many states that pays people with solar panels on their roofs for the electricity they feed into the grid. The group also posted a video on YouTube last week making its anti-net metering case.
Adler also shares a critical take on the Chamber's communications, also placing the news in context of public relations communications in recent weeks by the Edison Electric Institute, a trade association representing utilities.
