A navigation app that aggregates transportation modes and works offline? Do tell.
John Benjamin reports that a team of former Google employees is "creating an app called Urban Engines that shows early signs of promise for revolutionizing intra-city movement."
According to the article, the app features a couple of key of improvements over the current offerings of navigation apps:
"…drag and drop location and destination pins, allowing the app to instantaneously draw a smart path from place to place."
Aggregation of transportation options to help users chose the most efficient route—whether that's by bus, subway, and sidewalk.
In an earlier article introducing the app, Mariella Moon notes that the app also works without mobile data(!) in ten North American cities: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver and Washington, D.C.
