A few minutes of the film "Street" by James Nares shows only a few seconds of life in New York City—but such poetry is found there.
Thanks to Christopher Hawthorne for sharing the link to this engrossing two-minute snippet of Street by James Nares. The film was released in 2011 and until July was on view at the National Gallery. In total it's a 61-minute film comprised of super slow high-definition footage of New York streets, filmed from a passing car in six second snippets.
The sample shown here shows three shots—the final shot in particular explodes with the significance of people and place. How many details we fail to notice in the when navigating at the normal pace of ordinary life—the number of infrastructure, design, and human moments in the shot overwhelm.
