A European marketing idea has landed on American shores, and is poised to infuse the nation's transit operators with needed revenue.
"Last fall, Atlanta and Philadelphia transit systems began displaying ads on tunnel walls that look like short videos, and New York rail commuters could soon see something similar." Boston is the latest city to consider the ads. The new ads, which work by placing nearly 200 boxes along a tunnel wall, each box with a picture which is illuminated in sequence when a train passes, create the effect of a motion picture. "The concept has two things to recommend it. Transit systems are always on the lookout for new revenue, and advertisers are always eager for new ways to make powerful impressions on consumers."
