This would be a publicly accountable entity that would acquire property in the gentrifying neighborhood by buying it, receiving it from donors or getting it from public agencies through eminent domain or tax foreclosure. Some of this real estate could be sold or leased for higher- end commercial or residential real estate development, to bring money into the neighborhood. The profit could be used to help make the new Harlem a mixed-income, diverse neighborhood."
