A pied-à-terre in Paris sounds like something only the very wealthy can afford. But real estate prices in the City of Light continue to be lower than those in other major cities and, despite long flights and an unfavorable currency exchange, American demand for second homes in Paris remains strong...In all, Americans make up 11.3 percent of the city's foreign buyers, the second-largest group behind Italians...Overall, Americans tend to buy larger apartments than do other foreigners. ..The promise of crusty baguettes, world-class museums and the Parisian scene are alluring, but claiming it as your own requires patience and determination...Parisians also have a different take on the meaning of public space
