Federal funding is fueling a binge of major infrastructure projects spanning transportation, flood mitigation, and airport infrastructure.
An article in Construction Dive highlights nine major infrastructure projects to keep an eye on this year.
Among them is a $30 billion nuclear plant in Waynesboro, Georgia, which will be the largest generator of clean energy in the United States—once it opens after delay and more than double the original projected cost.
Other important projects are an expansion of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, as well as the Gateway Project between New York and New Jersey, which broke ground in late 2023. In Louisiana, the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain project will build a system of flood walls, levees, and water pumps to protect adjacent communities from flooding and storm surges.
