The county is funding over 600 new affordable housing units via revenue from a 2016 bond measure.

Northern California’s Santa Clara County has approved $28.7 million in funding for affordable housing in San Jose, reports Molly Burke for the San Francisco Chronicle.
The funding, which comes from a 2016 bond measure that has funded over 2,700 housing units to date, will support the construction of 612 units in four multifamily projects and one affordable homeownership development. “The affordable homeownership development that received funding from the county will include 36 units for sale at ‘affordable’ prices.”
According to Burke, “The projects will include 238 units for low-income tenants, 191 units for people considered to have “very low incomes” and 120 units of supportive housing for previously unhoused seniors and families, the county said.”
Two of the projects will be transit-oriented developments built on land owned by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority near transit stations.
