City of Raleigh / Greenway Food Truck Program

The City of Raleigh has introduced a Greenway Food Truck Pilot Program aimed at enriching the recreational experience for users of its greenways and parks. This initiative brings a variety of food options to popular greenway locations, catering to the diverse needs of runners, bikers, walkers, and other park-goers. By integrating food trucks into these spaces, the city seeks to create more vibrant and convenient environments for community engagement and enjoyment.

The pilot program is being implemented at several high-traffic areas, including Anderson Point, Buffaloe Road Athletic Park, Lake Johnson, Falls Dam, Shelley Lake Park, and Walnut Creek Wetland Center. These locations were selected based on their significant visitor numbers and strategic positions within the city's greenway network. The presence of food trucks at these sites is expected to enhance the overall appeal and utility of the parks, encouraging more frequent and prolonged visits.

Vendors interested in participating must obtain approval from Raleigh Parks and adhere to specific guidelines, including reserving designated spots and managing waste within a 50-foot radius of their operations. The program allows for all-day rentals from dawn to dusk, providing flexibility for vendors and convenience for park users. This initiative not only supports local businesses but also aligns with the city's goals of promoting healthy lifestyles and community well-being through enhanced public spaces.
