A delegation of mayors cancelled a scheduled visit to the White House this week after the Trump Administration ramped up attacks on sanctuary cities.
"The leader of the United States Conference of Mayors announced Wednesday the group was pulling out of a scheduled meeting at The White House after the Justice Department threatened to take action against 'sanctuary cities' that refused to share immigration information as mandated under federal law," report Seth McLaughlin and Dave Boyer.
The meeting was scheduled to address the topics of transportation and infrastructure—a timely topic after a leak of the Trump Administration's infrastructure plan was made public earlier this week. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu released a statement on the U.S. Conference of Mayors website explaining the reasoning behind his organization's actions.
