The New York City Housing Development Corporation hired BAE Urban Economics, also known as Bay Area Economics, "to crunch the numbers on its forthcoming mandatory inclusionary housing program," according to an article by Joe Anuta.
Joe Anuta reports that BAE Urban Economics "will work with a number of local partners to analyze real estate markets in various neighborhoods in the city to help identify ideal locations for mandatory inclusionary zoning and draw up possible prototypes."
The contract resulted from an request for proposals that closed at the end of August. BAE also recently completed another contract in New York City, preparing a study for the Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation about raising money for the maintenance and operation of green space.
Mandatory inclusionary zoning is a controversial component of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's plan to create 200,000 affordable housing units in the city.
