Friday Funny: Honolulu Tackles B.O. on The Bus
Potentially a new way to make the bus ride more pleasant: making sure that buses smell good. This is behind the Honolulu City Council's proposed measure that would make it illegal to "bring onto transit property odors that unreasonably disturb others or interfere with their use of the transit system, whether such odors arise from one's person, clothes, articles, accompanying animal or any other source."
The bill is proposed by Councilman Ram Tam, who says that passengers have complained to him about the smell of city buses.
The ACLU is concerned, however, noting that vaguely worded, laws like "odor" bans, could potentially be used to enforce an officer's "individual prejudices."
