Los Angeles introduced a new bike lane sweeper that will operate on two miles of Hollywood Boulevard bike lanes twice a month, reports Barry Lank in The Eastsider.

The cleaner is powered by Olympic hopeful cyclist Kayla Hankins and features a pair of googly eyes. “The battery-powered broom is pulled by an e-bike, while rotating brushes push leaves and debris into two small detachable baskets.”

According to Lank, “The sweeper came to Los Angeles though a partnership between City Council District 13 and Hankins’ employer, Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE).”
