Washington State is selling some serious transportation options on eBay.
"For sale: one surplused passenger ferry, perfect for that millionaire who wants to take 270 of his closest friends on a cruise through Puget Sound." Although the state bought the ferry in 1987 for $2.5 million, you can bring it to your very own home for just $500,000. "Washington State Ferries hopes to unload the passenger-only ferry Tyee, which sailed between Bremerton and Seattle until the state canceled the route in September." Where did they get the idea to go online? The state once tried to sell a tug "through sealed bids, but when it didn't get the minimum bid, it put the vessel on eBay and got an offer $8,000 higher than anyone had offered earlier...The state also has sold diesel engines, vehicles and other miscellaneous items on the Internet site, and it once helped Metro sell articulated buses there."
