The Green Line extension will bring light rail service from Boston to Somerville and Medford, when it's done.

"MBTA officials said Monday they are concerned about keeping the $2.3 billion Green Line extension project on schedule after being told a key piece of it has fallen months behind," report Matt Stout and Maria Lovato.
The delay work consists of relocating existing commuter rail tracks adjacent to the new light rail lines. That work is two months behind schedule, according to the article. "With winter approaching and construction spending expected to swell significantly over the next year, the details left board members uneasy."
The Green Line extension is a key piece of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker's transportation vision. Governor Baker has called the rescue of the project one of the state's most significant successes in the past four years.
