Portland, OR is asking residents to help prioritize its "wishlist" of transportation projects for the growing Central City area.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation has come up with a list of 18 transportation projects it could pursue as part of Central City in Motion, a plan for transportation upgrades to accommodate population growth in the city's central districts, reports Andrew Theen.
The projects span five years, and some could break ground as soon as next year. This version of the dream list was narrowed down from 147 ideas suggested by the public, and includes bus-only lanes, protected bike lanes, and road diets that would reduce on-street parking and driving lanes. All together, it would cost $72 million.
Now, the bureau hopes residents will use its comprehensive website to pick their biggest priorities that could be achieved within the city's actual budget of $30 million. A package of concrete proposals is scheduled to be proposed to City Council in late October.
