The Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure is adding protective concrete barriers to several downtown bike lanes, reports Elisheva Wimberly for WKRN News 2.

Metro Council member Jacob Kupin, who championed a resolution to reaffirm the city's Vision Zero pledge, said the barriers, installed on Commerce Street and Davidson Street, are just the beginning of a broader push for road safety. "He hopes to see more safety measures for pedestrians like crosswalks on busier streets in his district, and in areas like Elliston Place, which will soon undergo street improvements. He’s also continuing to push for an emergency safety fund so NDOT can build quick infrastructure improvements in areas like Gallatin Pike and Lafayette Street."
