The Riverview transit corridor has plenty of local support. Now planners will get to work.

A fifth and final local government authority has endorsed the idea of a "modern" streetcar connecting downtown St. Paul to the Mall of America in Bloomington along the Riverview transit corridor, reports Frederick Melo.
The Ramsey County Board joined Hennepin County, the cities of St. Paul and Bloomington, and the Metropolitan Airports Commission in endorsing the idea.
"The next stage [of the project] will involve environmental review, design and engineering of the $1.4 billion – $2 billion line, which could begin construction as soon as 2028. Daily ridership is projected to reach 20,400 by the year 2040," reports Melo.
For more background on the project, see an earlier article by Melo from December 2017 and another by Peter Callaghan from October 2017.
