Anna Clark reviews Nathan Bomey's new book, released to the public today, Detroit Resurrected: To Bankruptcy and Back. Bomey built his relationship with the source material while reporting on the Detroit bankruptcy for the Detroit Free Press, and "Detroit Resurrected is a natural extension of that shoe-leather reporting," writes Clark, adding "It’s not a paraphrase of previous news reports; it’s a sweeping narrative built out with exclusive and almost unbelievably candid interviews."
According to Clark's review of the book, Bomey gets into wonky detail that will appeal to people who want more than a superficial assessment. Clark also finds reason to believe that the book provides reasons for optimism, not only with Detroit's struggles to achieve fiscal solvency, but in the other cities struggling with similar fiscal challenges—even if not bankruptcy.
