One of California's three investor-owned utilities has announced an electric vehicle charging infrastructure program that will spend $130 million through 2020.
Robert Walton reports on a new EV Charge Network program at Pacific Gas & Electric that aims to install 7,500 level 2 chargers across Northern and Central California.
"The charging ports will be rolled out to condominiums, apartment buildings and workplaces," according to Walton. "In this year's first quarter, the utility will begin installing new chargers, including at Merced College, the first participating customer."
The new program will help the state of California meet its target of getting 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025.
