A city once infamous for municipal bankruptcy is now setting a standard for public transit technology.
"Stockton has become the first place in the nation to have a rapid transit bus route that is all electric," reports Rich Ibarra.
The new all-electric Route 44 between South Stocktown and Downtown Stocktown launched service on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. The route's buses are manufactured by Proterra, and the transit service is operated by the San Joaquin Regional Transit District.
The Central Valley Business Journal provides additional coverage of the new bus route, adding that "electric buses can travel up to 40 miles or for two hours on a single charge, and it takes about 10 minutes to fully charge a bus completely."
Hat tip to Rachel Dovey for sharing the news.
