Perhaps it's a sign of recovery: the city of Detroit will greatly expand the amount of roads it improves over the course of the next year.

"[Detroit officials] announced Wednesday a $63 million road improvement plan for 2017 that will include 100 miles of residential and major street resurfacing," reports Katrease Stafford.
The plan will expand current resurfacing efforts in the city by 35 percent over the past three years, explains Stafford. In all, 57 miles of residential streets and 43 miles of major roads will be repaved.
"The project will include $4 million in road enhancements, bridge improvements and new bike paths, according to a release from the city," according to Stafford.
