The Atlanta Braves are decamping for the suburbs this spring.

"The route for a new bus to help shuttle fans to SunTrust Park and commuters around the Cumberland area was approved by the Cobb Commission Tuesday," reports Meriz Lutz.
SunTrust Park is the name for the future suburban home of the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball team. The park is due to open its doors for the first time for a big league ballgame on April 14 of this year. The CobbLinc Cumberland Circulator, as the bus route is called, will open for service two weeks prior to the first pitch, on March 31.
According to Lutz, the bus service will be funded by a $3 hotel and motel fee implemented in a special tax district in the Cumberland area.
"The core route will travel in a continuous loop around the Interstate-75/Interstate 285 interchange, with stops at the Cobb Galleria, Atlanta Marriott Northwest, the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, in addition to the stadium," explains Lutz. "A second, southern route will start at the Cumberland Transfer Center and travel down Cumberland Parkway and Paces Ferry Road to the Home Depot corporate offices."
Back in October, Planetizen featured coverage of the Braves' last days in Atlanta, and what it means for the baseball stadium they are leaving behind.
