The Coradia iLint debuted at a trade show in August, but already buyers are ready to add the hydrogen-powered train to their rolling stock.
"Germany is set to introduce the world’s first zero-emission passenger train to be powered by hydrogen," reports Tom Embury-Dennis.
"The Coradia iLint only emits excess steam into the atmosphere, and provides an alternative to the country’s 4,000 diesel trains."
The German state of Lower Saxony has ordered 14 of the trains from Alstom, with the train expected to be in use by the public by December 2017. According to Embury-Dennis, there is prospective interest in more Coradia iLint's from the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden.
