Details are emerging about Biketown—the new bikeshare system coming to Portland. Portland is making use of online engagement and interactive mapping to inform station location choices.
Jonathan Maus reports on the latest developments for the expansion of Biketown—the newly named and sponsored bikeshare system in Portland, Oregon.
Maus got a first look at the new maps of proposed station locations and service area at a recent meeting of the city’s Bicycle Advisory Committee. " A draft station map released by the Bureau of Transportation today shows 300 candidate locations. Now the process begins for whittling them down to a final 100. PBOT also released an interactive tool that allows anyone to drop a pin on a map and suggest a location," according to Maus. The article includes a lot more analysis of the map as well as the planning process for the new bikeshare system.
