Yesterday James Corner Field Operations and Diller Scofidio + Renfro unveiled their designs for the third and final phase of the High Line, and The Architect's Newspaper has a plethora of tantalizing renderings.
Construction of the final phase of the High Line, which wraps around Hudson Yards from 30th to 34th streets, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013, with a full public opening in spring 2014, reports Tom Stoelker. With the massive Hudson Yards development being developed by a single entity, the Related Companies, "Section 3 will be intimately integrated with one major developer, as opposed to a variety of property owners and stakeholders....Much of the new section will be built cheek to jowl with Related's construction," notes Stoelker.
In "related" news, the developer has selected Diller Scofidio + Renfro to design the first residential building at Hudson Yards. According to The Real Deal, "The building would rise to 800 feet at the northeast corner of Eleventh Avenue and 30th Street with about 700 units."
