Wal-Mart has recently opened new multi-story stores in the New York City area, a market which the company has been working hard to penetrate.
While Wal-Mart has so far been thwarted from opening a store in any of New York City's five boroughs, the company is expanding into the areas around the city. The company recently opened a unique, 2-level, 180,000 square foot store in White Plains, New York -- which it hopes will serve customers from the Bronx.
A store in Kearny, New Jersey -- only seven minutes away from Manhattan -- also opened last month.
Both stores are one of the company's new multilevel outlets which are targeted for more urban locations in the coming years. Meanwhile, the company is continuing to pursue one or more sites for stores in New York City.
