The new "Green Communities Initiative" will help produce environmentally friendly and affordable homes around the United States.
A new initiative launched by the Enterprise Foundation/Enterprise Social Investment Corporation and the National Resources Defense Council, along with the AIA, the American Planning Association, and other corporate, financial, and philanthropic organizations, seeks to bring environmentally responsible green building to the development of new, affordably-priced homes around the country. The Green Communities Initiative will invest $550 million over the next five years to build 8,500 affordable homes. The program will offer developers and community-based organizations the financial resources, training, and technical assistance to build green homes.
