Waymo, like Google a company of Alphabet Inc., has been offering self-driving ride-hailing service to the public for a year, providing 100,000 rides in the Phoenix area in the process.

Commercial autonomous taxi service Waymo marked its one-year anniversary since becoming the first and only company to offer self-driving ride-hailing service to the public by releasing its app on the Apple App Store in the hopes of expanding its ridership base, reports Jason Plautz.
"The Google-backed service has delivered more than 100,000 trips to more than 1,500 monthly riders in the Phoenix area, according to a blog post," according to Plautz. "The number of weekly rides has tripled since its first full month of service in January 2019."
The company has yet to announce any plans to expand geographically.
