Washington D.C.’s Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) broke ridership records once again in March, with 43.4 percent more rides in March 2025 than in March 2024. “On March 29, the day after the famed cherry blossoms reached peak bloom, CaBi broke its all-time daily ridership record with 35,569 trips,” adds Samuel Littauer in an article in Greater Greater Washington.

The system has seen 39 consecutive months of year-over-year ridership growth. Although annual members typically make up the majority of rides, casual riders made up over half of all rides on March 29. “Unsurprisingly, the combination of warmer weather and popular regional events prove to be the strongest predictor of whether less-frequent casual riders are incentivized to use the system, many for the first time.”

The CaBi system is one of the nation’s most extensive, with over 780 stations and more than 6,200 bikes available on any given day.
