"Commuters making the daily slog from homes in Sonoma County to jobs in downtown San Francisco will soon endure one fewer transfer," reports Rachel Swan.

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is opening a new station in Larkspur, with access (via a seven- or eight-minute walk) to the San Francisco Bay Ferry system.  Still, the connection will be much improved with the addition on the Larkspur Station.

"Though it was part of the original plan that voters approved in 2008, the Larkspur stop got waylaid by SMART’s economic troubles," according to Swan.
