Detroit is working to change almost every layer of the city's transportation experience.
The city of Detroit recently released a new "Strategic Plan for Transportation" [pdf] that aims to address the city's public transit challenges, according to article by Robin Runyan.
"In partnership with Bloomberg Associates, the city now has many strategies and priorities over the next four years with the goal of helping Detroiters connect with what the city has to offer," according to Runyan.
The plan lays out five primary goals: economic opportunity, safety, vibrancy, community outreach, and city functionality. The article provides additional details about the year-one benchmarks with regard to buses, car sharing, bike sharing, parking, street beautification, and partnerships.
Additional coverage, focusing also on streetlight coordination, is available from Annalise Frank for Crain's Detroit Business.
