Jeramey Jannene reports on status of Milwaukee's streetcar system, touted by Mayor Tom Barrett as on time and on budget.

In March, the city received the delivery of the first of five vehicles for the  $128 million streetcar system. "The delivery marks a major milestone for the long-debated project, now known as The Hop presented by Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, that is scheduled to begin operating later this year," according to Jannene. "The delivery of the vehicle, which left Pennsylvania Friday afternoon, also marks the first time the public has been able to see the system’s final branding," adds Jennene.

The city previewed the first streetcar, driving it on the tracks under electric battery power, at the event held in late March.
