The Broke in Philly initiative has created a map aimed at making it easier to access support and services for low-income residents of Philadelphia.
Cianni Williams shares news of a new resource map created as part of the Broke in Philly initiative. Williams is writing for Generocity, an editorial partner in the project that has brought together 20 news organizations "to provide in-depth reporting on the push for economic justice in the city."
The map locates services "that offer some type of aid for those experiencing poverty, including food, housing, public benefits and financial empowerment centers." Broke in Phiilly is asking for tips to add more resources to the list.
Williams notes that Broke in Philly is not the first to offer a resource map in the city. "Nonprofits Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project and Juvenile Law Center have offered similar resource-finding apps and maps in the past for the specific vulnerable groups they serve: Pennsylvania JLWOP Reentry Navigator and Youth Matters Philly, respectively."
