Lower Manhattan's business improvement district has announced plans to build a wireless network which will provide information about local businesses and free Internet access within a 5-minute walk of any downtown location.
"Downtown business improvement district is planning to establish free high-speed wireless Internet access in six parks and public spaces in Lower Manhattan next month, significantly expanding the availability downtown of wireless connections to the Internet...[It will be] one of the largest free wireless networks in the country."
