"Say hello to the Rhode Island Avenue protected bikeway," writes Dan Malouff. "It's only 250 feet long and it only covers 1/3 of a block, but it exists."

Malouf's coverage of the new bike lane is as brief as the bike lane, but such protected bike lanes, even over such a short span, are still big news.

"The protected lane is part of the larger College Park Trolley Trail," adds Malouf. "For most of its length the Trolley Trail runs either off-street or as normal on-street bike lanes."

For more reading on College Park's bike plans, the city released the College Park Bike Boulevards Phasing and Implementation Plan [pdf] in June 2016.
