According to the article, "officials with the Buffalo Bayou Partnership opened the renovated structure to the public with tour guides leading about 30 people at a time on half-hour walks through the structure, spouting bits of Houston history and arcana."
The cistern opened last weekend, but it has already attracted more than 3,000 people to sign up for tours in the coming weeks. "Staff parried away disappointed would-be visitors who had not signed up in advance for tours of the cavernous, subterranean space," on opening weekend.
